The Natural Hair Professionals Coalition (NHPC) was reestablished to champion natural hair professionals by challenging unjust legislation, defending discrimanatory policy, and ensuring recognition of textured hair care as a cultural and professional practice. We exist to:

Support and advocate for natural and textured hair professionals through training, professional development, and public education.

Create a statewide network that empowers individuals and businesses in the textured hair industry through mentorship, resources, and regulatory guidance.

Promote cultural awareness, equity, and inclusion in the personal care industry by amplifying the unique contributions and needs of textured hair professionals.

Serve as an advisory and advocacy body for legislation, workforce standards, and public policies affecting natural hair professionals and their communities.

CURRENT INITIATIVE:
HB 3356 threatens to erase hair braiding licenses in Illinois. We are currently raising awareness about the bill and working to educate the public and government authorities on the necessity of licensing.
What can you do?
1. Please join our efforts and spread the word!
2. Attend all upcoming events!
3. Contact your local state representative and let them know that you disagree with the bill and ask them to vote "NO" on its passing.
4. Utilize the talking points on all documents attached to this site.
